The San Luis Lodges Hotel rises at Avelengo/Hafling a few km from Merano/Meran, around a 5800 sq. m lake in an unspoilt reserve, set in 40 hectares of alpine park.
16 tree houses by local architect Hugo Demetz are set within the forest, while 22 chalets by Austrian firm Landauer rest on the edge of the manmade lake.
The interiors are welcoming, untreated Mondholz wood surfaces and a putty and slate grey palette are notably rustic.
