Through the lens of Noe Dewitt

Noe Dewitt was born in Los Angeles, California as the second son of two rock ‘n’ roll tour managers. His Mother and Father lived the dream as two free spirited hippies managing artists such as David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Tina Turner. As toddlers, his brother and he carelessly explored the hills of their neighborhood in Silver Lake. Eventually, his parents left the tour managing business and they headed to the foothills outside Yosemite National Park. They settled in the all-American quaint town of Mariposa and enjoyed the peaceful countryside as their backyard.
Noe’s Mother went back to work as a production coordinator in fashion photography, working with Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Gianni Versace. His Father began a new career in architecture and designed homes and commercial buildings in and around Yosemite. As a teenager, he became interested in photography. Noe was inspired by his Uncle’s fashion photography and his Grandfather’s industrial and World War II photographs. Ansel Adams was the hero around Yosemite. He was drawn to the way he captured light in nature. Every summer, Noe and his family traveled to the beautiful island of Capri, a place that his Mother called home. The island cast its spell on his and he was hooked to his camera.
Noe moved to New York City in 1997 after graduating from Rhode Island School of Design. It’s was a great ride, working side by side with many editorial, catalog, and advertising clients. He was carrying his camera wherever he went, always searching for moments to capture, either on the job or traveling with his family.
From his book “New York Design at Home” are some pictures that he take from the designer’s house Juniper Tedhams.
