In the case of Niki Athens Hotel, Studio Bonarchi was asked to proceed to the radical renovation of an existing 25-room hotel. Located on Nikis Street, in an area close to Plaka that reflects the many diverse and dynamic faces of Athens, the hotel should resemble this vibrant mosaic that is the Greek capital. To achieve that, Vangelis Bonios used a mix of elements, different styles and references. In perfect alignment with the vision of the owners, he kept the layout of the spaces unchanged, while all the decorative elements, the materials and the color palette were reinvented.
For the public areas, an ambience reminiscent of a “twisted classic” boutique hotel was chosen. Glossy dark wood paneling coexists with bronze details, industrial elements, iconic design pieces and pop culture details. All are characterized by a dark, dramatic mood that results from the choice of materials. A choice that was adopted primarily because of the floor in the restaurant area which was of Nero Marquina marble that was kept intact as a reference to the past. In the private areas -all the rooms and suites- a brighter mood prevails. Details in bronze shades adorn the white walls which host the custom-designed headboards and open closets made of oak wood. The translucent baths with the iron canvas and the retro glass were designed to bring natural light to every corner of each room. An absolutely defining element.
