Madrid-based architecture studio OOAA Arquitectura have created a refurbished apartment in Leon, Spain, the Alcázar de Toledo. Even though, the climate in Northern Spain leans on the cooler side, OOAA Arquitectura have created a home that feels exactly the opposite. The OOAA Arquitectura design team created in the house a shared ‘social’ space separate from the master bedroom and from the children’s bedrooms.
They decided to avoid corridors in the home and prioritized wood as the central material. The white oak flooring is mirrored in the custom made furniture, within the library cabinetry, kitchen, wine room and the enviable master suite’s walk in wardrobe. The charcoal-colored pine wooden doors offer contrast to the light timber.
Finally, The OOAA Arquitectura team enhanced the oak joinery and flooring with sand, white and black accents in order to create a sober and elegant atmosphere and these are revealed through the bespoke black lacquered Pierre Jeanneret chairs, Serge Mouille wall lamp, Maison Barbier 1970s travertine table lamps and custom armchairs in the living space.
