Beige by Maria Osminina

Maria Osminina created this beautiful minimalist Beige apartment. The house was built in 1903-04 by the architect Mulkhanov and is an architectural monument. This forced her to make many non-trivial technical and visual decisions, which later helped to preserve the heritage and emphasized its uniqueness with modern architectural solutions. To create bathrooms and a shower she had to use part of the space of the historical corridor. The design of the white cubes allows you to preserve the original geometry of the ceilings, enhancing the contrast of stucco moldings, historic doors, and straight lines of new designs. She likes it when minimalistic forms are combined with the historical texture of ornate lines and colors.
Thus, emphasizing each other, they begin to exist harmoniously, allowing you to reorient the purpose of spaces. Built-in new high doors are painted in the color of the walls and free the corridor and room from unnecessary details. Minimalist white furniture, square shelves in the form of combined cubes continue the idea of combining modern and historical. So architectural and design decisions become one and work reinforcing each other. Since the area of the bathrooms is tiny, complex, and irregular in shape, it was important to think through every centimeter well.
All elements are built-in and minimalistic. The geometry of the lines allows each centimeter to be used to the maximum, harmoniously continuing the idea of new designs. In order to maximize free space in both bathrooms and maintain functionality, cabinets were designed in which sinks are built-in, and everything necessary for daily use is stored in drawers. Sour light creates an atmosphere and a sense of continued space, carefully emphasizing the liveliness of the lines and colors of the textured wall. Moisture-proof even coating with paint and a coarse fixed layer of concrete on the floor continue the general line of visual solutions.
