An apartment with a garden in Paris by Chloé Cornu

Architect Chloé Cornu designed this beautiful apartment with a garden in Paris, where the idea was to the contours of an old apartment to the demands of modern life, and give it a real identity by betting on contrasting tones. By investing in this beautiful apartment in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, these young parents have realized a dream that many of us share: owning a garden in the heart of the city. Poorly laid out with its off-center kitchen, and its bathroom installed at the other end of the bedrooms, the property was not suited to today’s lifestyle and had no real identity.
A tailor-made challenge for the architect Chloé Cornu who was able to combine the primary attractions of the old building with the contrasting aesthetics that the new owners wanted. Like a well-kept secret by the condominium, the garden of this Parisian apartment is only revealed once you have passed the courtyard set back from the street, then the door of a building with all the Haussmannian codes. The four-room apartment, completely redesigned by Chloé Cornu, is distinguished by its contrasting colors that highlight the beautiful molded volumes. Because the transformations orchestrated by the talented architect HMONP have not erased the original history of the apartment, quite the contrary.
The restored cornices, the parquet floor repaired then sanded, the French windows sketched in respect of the architecture, rub shoulders with the contemporary lines of the woodwork and selected wallpapers. This subtle balance with the past has allowed the new owners to bring their personal touch between these walls. Because without being dilapidated, the 98 m2 was no longer in keeping with the times when they visited it. The plan lacked logic to accommodate their small family, and that is why many rooms were modified when they were not moved during the construction.
