Architect George Zafiriou is the mastermind behind the transformation of the miner’s housing complex in Vagia into COCO-MAT Eco Residencies Serifos hotel. For the creation of COCO-MAT Eco Residencies Serifos George Zafiriou managed to merge the authentic cycladic architecture, the unadorned industrial order and the elegant eco-friendly aesthetics that defines COCO-MAT’s philosophy into a unique new style.
As a result, all spaces in COCO-MAT Eco Residencies Serifos are hospitable, full of natural light and completely in tune with their surroundings. With respect to the traditional island appearance and to the history of the original building and its earlier inhabitants, George Zafiriou followed the principles of bio-climatic architecture, securing natural air-conditioning in all COCO-MAT Eco Residencies Serifos apartments.
All apartments and common areas of COCO-MAT Eco Residencies Serifos were decorated by the skilled COCO-MAT Interior Design Team, in co-operation and under the supervision of architect George Zafiriou. COCO-MAT’s Interior Design Team has thus equipped every residence with the necessary furniture, beddings and utilitarian objects, all made with natural materials, such as cotton, silk, coconut fibres, natural rubber, herbs (eucalyptus, lavender), goose down, wool and linen.
