The Spanish architecture firm, OOAA Arquitectura, has designed the beautiful Wabi-Sabi inspired apartment, Pelayo, in Madrid, Spain. OOAA Arquitectura aimed to create an open plan layout for the two-bedroom, two bathroom apartment. The firm wanted to seamlessly integrate the apartment’s different uses, removing segmentation between zones such as the kitchen and dining.
Because of the small size of the apartment the firm selected concrete flooring, micro-cement walls, along with the custom birch wooden cabinetry and doors. They added to this textural affair, sisal rugs and linen soft furnishings in order to complete the articulate the home’s overall palette. In order to emphasize this feeling of warmth, OOAA Arquitectura layered each minimalist space with vintage furniture. Finally, by adding the age-old Wabi-Sabi style it is ensuring that this is a timeless apartment, that will only get better with age.
