On the south shore of Montreal Ivy Studio designed “White’s” its first dry cleaner counter. Founded by two young entrepreneurs wanting to diversify the offer in the field, the counter presented a new concept based on the transparency of their operations, the use of ecological products and the search for quality in the customer experience at the service and space. The “White’s” factory is located in the heart of the island of Montreal to ensure the best distribution and also reflects the brand image with its minimalist design and attention to detail.
A true flagship project, this first counter offers a unique venue by introducing a new typology of dry cleaners. Inspired by the aesthetics of Parisian apartments, the place offers a luminous and classic atmosphere expressed among other things by the work of moldings, sober volumes and noble materials. The main conceptual issue was the height of the ceilings. By adding a level of hanging fixtures and deploying the 14-foot moldings, the space can enjoy the height while maintaining comfortable proportions.
The floor contrasts with the immaculate white by the warmth of handmade terracotta ceramic herringbone. Its bespoke library with a rail ladder features a rich selection of eco-friendly products for clothing and home. Particular attention has been paid to the organization of the space through the seamstress’s window, the concealed doors and the glazed slit that allows us to see the movement of the garment conveyor. The monolithic black marble countertop and the Lambert and Fils gold-plated luminaire are the exterior of the fully glazed facade, and certainly set the tone for the new brand of cleaners.
