Topographies of Pleasure is a minimal interior located in Madrid, Spain, designed by Lorna de Santos. The project was a call to reflect living a Wabi-sabi experience, a spiritual, internal, and subjective way of life, a philosophical construction that through events in space alludes to pure materials, art, and an aesthetic ideal. Studio’s propose was to create an aesthetic paradigm based on nature that returns, in a way, good sense and reason, to the art of living. Returning to more contemplative life and temporarily halting the frenetic society of the 21st century.
They defend a project where sustainability refers to recovering the work of craft workshops in our country. The main idea of the house was to install a continuous wooden floor mat, appealing to the inverse concept of its standard use. Sculpting with geometry was important to make people feel this experience. Opening the wall to reveal the fireplace was the way to invite you to come into our space. This project is made up of a single element, in which geometries are sculpted to make experiences happen. All lines from the different blueprints are at the same height. The wooden log, the bench, and the sofa are 50cm from the finished floor, as well as the shelf and glaze.
