Hidden from the world, SABI, a Wabi-Sabi-inspired stay In Tasmania, is a lovingly handcrafted stone and timber cabin that balances luxury with authenticity. Earthy tones, natural materials, and raw textures around you. Sublime in its simplicity SABI is a home of serenity and stillness that invites quietude and introspection. Drawing on the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, you’ll find humble materials that embrace imperfections and the patina of time.
A cohesive color palette evokes a soothing experience with walnut-colored timber reminiscent of a traditional Japanese Ryokan. The considered design is a demonstration of restraint offering a sophisticated space out of the ordinary. SABI is understated, raw, and refined in its minimalism. A quality of serene beauty is expressed as a mood of spiritual solitude. The space is unpretentious yet elegant and timeless in its beauty. Two king-size bedrooms accommodate up to four guests.
The master suite is on the mezzanine level. A king-size bed sits atop a purpose-built platform rendered in textured micro-cement. Accompanying the master suite is a dedicated Japanese-inspired Onsen, with a repurposed wooden barrel featuring a bespoke liner handcrafted from salvaged copper. The second bedroom, located downstairs, also has a king-size platform bed. The heroic centerpiece of the lounge is the stone fireplace soaring six meters high into the vaulted ceiling. Flanked by acres of couch are two futon-inspired mattresses that rival the largest of daybeds.
