Malbon LA Flagship is a minimalist space located in Los Angeles, California, designed by 22RE. Upon entering, visitors are immediately struck by the beige carpeting that covers not just the floor but also climbs up the walls, crafting an unconventional yet inviting environment. This application of the same texture across the landscape and vertical surfaces introduces an interesting monochromatic effect, forming an understated backdrop against which other elements can shine.
One such highlight within this monotonous palette is the meticulously crafted custom metalwork. These pieces, complete with their intricate detailing, effectively punctuate the softness of the carpet, fostering a visual dialogue between the two contrasting textures – the plush, homely carpeting and the resilient, metallic forms. The result is a fascinating interplay of softness and hardness.
Another striking feature is the seamless integration of these metal details within the space. Their fluid contours blend effortlessly with the carpeting, yielding a sculptural and continuous setting. The inherent minimalism of this design strategy endows a certain serenity to the space, allowing the Malbon collection to stand out, but not clash, within its confines.
